The Basics
- Hard Drive: The 80 GB hard drive (4200 RPM) is a bit above average in size for notebook PCs--and especially for notebooks of this small size. It offers more than enough capacity for storing documents and productivity software for road warriors. You'll also be able to store a good-sized digital audio library.
- Processor: The Intel Pentium M Processor Ultra Low Voltage 753 (1.20 GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 400 MHz FSB) delivers outstanding mobile performance and low-power enhancements for sleeker, lighter notebook designs. The 1.2 GHz clock speed can be misleading--for most tasks, this processor will be faster than a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4-M. This older processor sits at the bottom of the current spectrum for this processor class (as of March 2006).
- Memory: The VGN-TX750P/B has two memory slots and comes loaded with 512 MB of DDR SDRAM (PC3200, 400 MHz DDR RAM; 1 x 512 MB), and it can be expanded to a maximum of 1.5 GB.
- CD/DVD Drive: Offering the latest in DVD writing technology, the multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer DVD+R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. For both standard, single-layer DVD-R and DVD+R discs, it has a 4x write, while double-layer DVD+R discs have a a 2.4x write speed. Rewritable DVD+RW discs write at 2.4x while DVD-RW write at 2x. For CDs, it has a 24x write/10x rewrite speed. It also has a separate DVD-ROM drive with 8x DVD read speed and 24x CD read speed.
- Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has an 82-key keyboard with 1.7mm stroke and 17mm pitch and an electrostatic touchpad.

Customer Reviews
I absolutely LOVE this computer!I bought this little laptop because I have a large "desktop replacement" 17" widescreen also which has become too large to bring to meetings, classes or seminars I may go to and I noticed many other executives using this Sony TX model so when I received it I was pleasantly surprised at the weight, the outstanding color and brightness and I get tons of comments on how practical and helpful it is in meetings! I bought another one recently for my husband as I originally bought him a Sony UX which is too small and not very practical which I'm now returning and he absolutely loves his Sony TX too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! You can get add-on memory directly from [...] for a great price too!
Great portable computer
I got this computer about a week ago and I absolutely love it! It is incredibly small while still being practical. Probably not a great computer for anyone with limited vision, but otherwise perfect. Great for anyone who needs to take their computer with then without adding a ton of weight. Perfect for students to take to class. Highly recomended.
The Best Itty-Bitty Laptop
It is undeniable that Sony makes a good (but expensive) laptop. The TX750 meets my needs and looks great. The standard battery life is decent, expect around 4 hours under normal circumstances. The extended battery will last for maybe 7, but it adds a significant amount of weight and bulk to the laptop. The newer TX Vaios have a longer standard battery life and some other upgraded features, but cost a few hundred more. It's up to you. I primarily use this laptop for school, so it's more than sufficient as the pricey, glorified word processor I use it as.
The screen is bright and crisp. I haven't really watched many videos on it, but so far, everything looks great. Performance meets expectations for the price and specs. Windows loads fairly fast and I haven't had too many problems with programs freezing up. The charcoal graphite lid is a cool touch, but after lugging it around for a few months in my school bag, it has started to get scuffed and a bit unsightly looking. I recommend a protective case if you plan on abusing it at all. The keyboard can be a little tough to read in dim lighting due to the black on silver lettering, but it isn't that big a deal to me.
Overall, I would say the TX750 delivers pretty good bang for the buck, but power users may prefer one of the newer releases for the added memory and battery performance. The price of this model has come down a bit since I bought mine, so I would say it is the perfect choice for students or casual traveler users.
